A functional capacity evaluation is the evaluation of a person’s functional abilities and disabilities in the context of work performance requirements either current or proposed. FCEs can be a double-edged sword; useful in case disposition or an example of wasteful spending if a poorly designed test is selected and/or misinterpreted.
Are you confused by the alphabet soup (FCEs, FCAs, WCEs, PCAs, JCEs) of terms that describes testing of an injured worker’s functional abilities & disabilities and the plethora of technologies used by different providers?D+WC can help you sort it out, identify valid tests & results, interpret report findings and identify FCE providers for your cases. We can discern between what is a medically necessary and appropriate test versus an expensive technology. Our consultants have performed thousands of FCEs, participated in the development of standards and have extensive workers compensation and disability experience.
